I recently got an email from a reader, who shares a love for dark fics. I have a blazoning obvious obsession with Dark characters, so I was happy to hear from someone else who shares my obsession as well. She informed me she had a little Darkward fic, and I ran to read it. I started it late in the evening and read till I could not keep my eyes open any longer, only to continue it the moment I was free the next morning. I could not stop reading this fic.

We have a very human Bella, working and almost done with college, leaving her apartment in Seattle and traveling to Forks for a ten day Christmas vacation. Things turn creepy as she soon realizes she is living a dream she had before she left. It was like With the timely appearances of a one Edward Cullen, who stalked and glared at her in high school, Bella realizes he is not quite right. She knows he is dangerous and his claim on her scares the living daylights out of her, but even though she knows she should run away screaming, she is drawn to him in a way she can't explain. She likes the thrills he gives her. They embark on a journey of mating, love, and dare I say some HAWT luvin'? Yes, yes I do. It is loaded with surprises, some of which I was clinging to every word (oh, who am I kidding, I clung to every word even if it wasn't hot!!) and just when you think you know what is going to happen next or that the excitement is dying down, she hits you with a "WTF" moment and it starts the goodness all over again. Her last updated chapter had my jaw dropping and it is so unexpected you can't help but want to read as fast as your feeble human mind can handle. It was beyond awesome and the cliffhanger she left us on, is frightening in such a sexy way. Luckily, she is close to updating, and we won't have to wait much longer to see what her brilliant mind comes up with.

This fic is dark, but not so dark that everyone can't enjoy it. It's mild in comparison, but deliciously dark enough to swoon (and oh, baby did I SWOON a few times) over the dark Mr. Cullen. He makes you want to be naughty and scared at the same time. Talk about a happy hour cocktail of adrenaline!!! This fic is so under appreciated. I ask you all to run out and leave her reviews for this goodness. Once you get down in to it, you won't get out and make sure to leave her a review for all the chapters. It deserves it.

Guest Review - MaitresseSaint

Carousel by Lilly Monroe

This story was rec’d to me by a fellow J/B lover and author. I was super skeptical at first because the only dark fic I had ever read was You’ll Be Mine and that is a vamp fiction. Anyway, Carousel is AH, dark, and not at all what I was expecting.

Jasper and Bella are both dealing with dealing with different types of addiction and are sent to live with their aunt and uncle (no they are not related). Both characters have dark pasts and are dealing with a lot of unresolved issues and heartbreak. There is definitely a love/hate relationship between the two and it quickly spirals out of control and becomes a game. There are so many emotions packed into these chapters. I cried, laughed, and got turned on, but for the most part I was angry with the two main characters. I wanted to mother them and discipline them for the way they were screwing up their lives, but to me that shows that Lilly Monroe is a great author. I have read enough fanfic that it’s hard to get a reaction out of me and this fic did just that.

Jasper and Bella aren’t the only two characters in this story though and neither was my favorite. Edward was my fav in Carousel. Shocking, I know, but true. His genuine concern and like towards Bella made me want them together. Not to mention that the lemon with Edward was by far my favorite in the story. His relationship with Jasper, his cousin, was heartbreaking. He was only in a few chapters, but I really hoped that we would see more of him and we still may. Carousel is complete; however, it left off at what I would call a cliffy. Lilly Monroe has promised a sequel, so I am sitting and waiting… somewhat patiently for that. :)

Faith in You by JaspersIzzy

This fic has 7 chaps posted and has our favorite Jasper, our Darksper is separated from the Cullen's... hiding in caves, hunting humans and just unbelievably torn. Receiving a call from Carlie brings him home. The family is in serious jeopardy. Alice has a vision that is not clear... What can he do? Alice says this is the only way. Carlisle explains that there is an uprising in the vampire world. An unknown army has been formed and commanded by someone ruthless and lethal. Do they fight the uprising new army?

The family goes to the clearing to meet the incoming threat.... Maria and her evil horde. She wants Jasper. When he refuses, she has a member of her horde use his powers on them. But alas, they are defeated by the "Unknown Army".

"Vampire Bella and the army of Werewolves." Bella is able to shield the Cullen's from their attackers and takes them out. OMJH! Jasper gets a read on her and tracks her down. They talk and she confides in him a bit of what is going on. Bella and the wolves are hiding, fighting and trying to stay off the radar.

There are questions that need to be answered but there is no answers being give... like why are the dogs following Bella? She is their natural enemy. Do they know something? Is there a reason?

Bella takes Jasper back to her liar and shows him around. They start to get reacquainted when disaster strikes. Bella gets news that Jacob has been killed, and totally flips out. A vampires rage is fueled inside of her and Jasper has to stop her. His feelings for her have grown and he needs to stop her. If she goes on a rampage, they'd be detected. The Volturi could get involved? Or are they already?

This is what you'll need to find out. Read it, love it and enjoy it.

If you haven't already done so, you should check out her Darksper fic... Faith In You. I love that story, and she is doing an amazing job with it! I'm quite certain that it will be getting reviewed here in the very near future! So, here is what she has submitted to us...

Governor Swan has forwarded the persecution of Vampires ever since their existence was revealed. Their leader Aro wants revenge. He sends his best fighter and hater of humans, Edward, to abduct the Governor's daughter Bella. Edward & Bella. DARK. AU.

Wow, this story is amazing. It is so descriptive and just down right terrifying if you put yourself in Bella's position. The story starts out as her just being kidnapped by Edward and Jasper. Two of the Volturi's most powerful vampires and completely ruthless. Bella's father is an activist of sorts against the vampire's and wants them all destroyed, so kidnapping the governor's daughter to get him to bend to their will is their plan. Edward absolultly loathes humans and poor Bella gets the brunt of his rage. He is cruel and lashes out against her every chance he gets while looking at her in disgust and hatred. He takes every chance he gets to be the more dominant creature since he's a vampire and she is human. So why can't he seem to keep his hands off of her when directing her to do something or taking her some where? Jasper doesn't seem to have a problem not touching her when he needs to order her around. Also Jasper suspects something very dangerous for their kind is happening to Edward. Maybe feeling somethings he shouldn't for the human they are forbidden from by vampire law? We don't know what it is yet, because we are only nine chapters in, but it has Jasper worried and Edward acting a little differntly towards Bella. A quote directly from Abyss to give you a little hint "He didn't seem to like hurting her and yet he couldn't stop." We have almost all BPOV with one chapter JPOV so far and it is getting good. It's like a mystery to figure out what is going on behind Edward's mind. He gives subtle hints along the way, but we aren't going to know for sure why he can't seem to stay away from Bella, even when he hates her so much. Edward's dominant nature is alluring and you can't help but wonder what makes him want to treat Bella the way he does. Go read. You won't be disappointed.
