Tie Me Up and Tease Me Thursday

Chapter 17 - Welcome Back to the Twilight Zone

For those of you who read, “The Vibration of Love,” you’ll recall that the first chapter was titled, “Welcome to the Twilight Zone.” The following is an excerpt from a chapter I’m currently writing for my story, “The Spy Who Loved Me,” another Bella/Rob story in which Bella discovers that she used to be a “Jane Bond” type spy. Her memories were erased at one point, so she is only now, several years into their marriage, recalling the experience. Edward is also a spy, and in this scene, she is posing as his girlfriend.

Much to Rob’s chagrin, I was spending tonight at the Lemon Grove casino with his nemesis, Edward.

“I have to join the game,” Edward said as he put his arm around my waist and pulled me close. “I’m going to kiss you, so don’t hit me,” he said smiling.

His lips met mine for what I thought was much longer than necessary to qualify as a public display of affection, but I could hardly argue with him about it now. “I’m going to kick your ass later,” I whispered, and then smiled at him with a look of radiant adoration.

He chuckled and walked to the blackjack table.

I heard the door open behind me. The player sitting across from Edward looked up, and his expression instantly changed from one of amused boredom to terror. I glanced over my shoulder to see who had caused his sudden shift. A man with long dark hair and a closely trimmed, thick beard who was dressed completely in black, including his leather jacket and sunglasses, was striding confidently toward me. There was something very familiar about him, but I couldn’t place him.

“Ah, if it isn’t the lovely Mrs. Pattinson,” the stranger said as he stopped in front of me and kissed my hand.

“Michael?” I gasped.

He smiled and took off his sunglasses.

“You look so different, I didn’t know it was you.”

Before he could reply, Edward was at my side.

“Bella, who’s your friend?” He asked.

“Edward, this is Michael Sheen. He’s the actor who played Aro in the Twilight series.”

Edward held out his hand and said, “It’s nice to meet you. I’m a fan of your work.”

Michael just continued to stare at me and ignored Edward’s hand.

“Michael? What’s wrong?”

He stared for another moment and said, “Come now Isabella, let’s stop with the charade, shall we?”

He was speaking in the same accent and voice inflection he used to portray Aro, and suddenly, the hair on the back of my neck stood up. I was having déjà vu. I flashed back to the morning last year when I awoke to find Rob in costume and make up as Edward, speaking in Edward’s voice. At first I thought I was dreaming, then I realized I was looking at the vampire, Edward, and not my husband. Could Aro have figured out how to shift into our world just like Alice is shifting?

I stared back at him. “Aro?” I finally asked.

He clapped his hands together and roared with laughter. “Oh I knew you’d figure it out right away! You’re such a clever girl. Come now, let’s adjourn to somewhere private. We have so much to talk about.”

Summary - What would you do if you walked in your home at the wrong time? Or was it the right time? If someone asked you to join them, what would you do? Was a one-shot, now a story. Sometimes things are much worse than they seem. J/B/C. Lemony goodness. Rated M.

I just had to stay awake. If I stayed awake then he couldn’t come in my room, right? Yeah, keep telling yourself that, it might just help. It didn’t help though; in fact my thoughts were only making things worse. I knew it; I knew all along that he was coming to me while I was sleeping. I would wake up and feel his presence in my room.

What all could he have done to me while I was sleeping? The kiss had to have been real; would he have gone further than a kiss? No, he wouldn’t do that. I know him better than to think that of him. No, you knew the old Edward. This Edward is different and there is no telling what he is capable of.

I just had to find a way to shut my thoughts up before they made me go insane. Maybe I was already insane. That would explain everything because Edward would never want to hurt me, not like this. He is not the same Edward. When are you going to listen to me?

I looked around the room and noticed that Carlisle was watching me intently. I couldn’t help but wonder where Jasper could be.

“Where did Jasper go?” I asked.

“He went to get you something to eat. What are you over there thinking so hard about?” Carlisle asked.

“Everything, but I wish my thoughts would be quiet for a little while. I just need a break before I go crazy. What if I go crazy? Will you and Jasper still love me?” I asked, a sob threatening to come out.

Jasper/Bella

All of a sudden, a gunshot rang out in the air and the carriage came to a complete stop. Both girls stared at each other before Bella yelled out the window. “Henry? What’s going on?” When she got no answer, she slowly opened the door. She gasped in surprise when she spied three riders with bandanas on their faces and Henry laying on the ground, blood seeping from a wound in his head. She knew they were on their own and choked back a sob.

Suddenly Bella remembered the false floor in the carriage from when they transported the gold off of the ship. She quickly moved the carpet and opened the trap door. “Alice, you’ve got to hide! No matter what happens, stay in there. If something does happen, go find Jasper. Hurry!”

Alice started to argue with her. “No Bella! I’m not going to let you face them by yourself!” Tears were streaming down her face.
“Look Alice, we don’t have time to argue about this. I’ll offer them what jewels and money I have. Hopefully that’s all they’re after. Please do what I say!” Bella was begging her best friend. She gave Alice a quick hug and pushed her down into the hole.

Bella had just covered the hole when the carriage door was yanked open. She backed as far as she could into the corner of the seat when a masked man poked his face in the door.

“Well, well, well…what do we have here?” he asked in an English accent.
